Associate Pastor Search Team Updates

The Associate Pastor Search Team (APST) is delighted to share that the Associate Pastor Search Profile is COMPLETE!  The profile has been submitted to the UCC Massachusetts Conference and will be shared with interested candidates.  The APST will then begin the process of screening, interviewing and choosing a candidate in the coming months.

We have included information about the present – the statistics and details about our people and programs.  We  have articulated how we got where we are today – our rich history and deep roots both in the Church, as well as the Natick community.  We have also shared the hopes and prayers from our Congregation about where we desire to go in the future here at the crossroads of Natick.

from our Profile Summary .....

Brief Description of the Church:

Our church is symbolically at the crossroads of Natick’s geographic center.  We recognize the tremendous potential of our location.  Our congregation takes pride in offering an extravagant and radical welcome. We see ourselves becoming a bold voice for a progressive faith at a time when faith often polarizes.  We offer a broad variety of worship experiences – from contemplative to alternative - and musical styles – from traditional to contemporary.  We often integrate different styles together.  Our worship seeks to be genuine and joyful.  It is important to us that our guests feel at home.  Opportunities for spiritual search are a priority and there is room for diverse paths in our programs and outreach. Our Open and Affirming process created a significant shift in the life of this church and we are clear that there is a place at our table for everyone.   Our Senior Pastor is warm, enthusiastic and collaborative. Lay leaders are dedicated and creative.  Teamwork is highly valued and we are willing to spend the time it takes to find common ground and common goals. Our congregation values its sense of community and the growing diversity in our community.   People trust one another and trust the Spirit.  The congregation values children and youth and supports their participation in all areas of our life together.

Brief Statement on Leadership in Ministry:

What we are searching for in an Associate Pastor is not primarily task leadership, but the ability to resource, support and encourage the gifts that God has given us to engage the ministry to which God has called us.  We are seeking someone with the wisdom to know when to do what needs to be done in order to create new opportunities and teams.  We are a small organization with big goals.  This means that sometimes leaders lead, not from the top down, but side by side.

Many of those who are a part of our congregation are seeking hands-on opportunities to reach out to others, to go deeper in faith, to connect with one another.  We need additional pastoral leadership to help jump-start people and projects.  We believe that an Associate Pastor can help lay the groundwork which allows people to connect with their passions, especially in the areas of youth ministry and congregational care.
